Keep Calm & Take a Break

Isn't that the truth!? It may seem like sitting at your desk for an entire day to push through all the work you have is the best choice. I've been there. Especially when I need to work on writing papers for class. And what happens? We end up dealing with burn out (and I have a nasty habit of getting distracted by Tumblr and Pinterest).
Sometimes taking a break seems counterproductive, but taking a few breaks throughout your study sessions allows your mind to breathe and process the information you've spent so much time studying! There is no way to perform at your highest level if you don't allow time for rest.
The things that I've found that work for me when I take a study break are a lot of the same things I've posted before in my Tips for a Bad Day post:
+ Have a snack
+ Stretch
+ Get some fresh air
+ Read something unrelated to the material you've been studying
+ Draw or color
+ Take a shower or have a bath
+ Take a nap!
The Huffington Post published an article that gives six ways to optimize your breaks (studying and life breaks), and the Illinois University New Bureau details the study that suggests taking mental breaks can improve performance. So don't be afraid of study breaks. At first thought they may seem useless, but the truth is you're going to feel better and be more productive if you take a little time for yourself between all that studying.
